Nellie was born in 1916.  Nellie's father was Jason Albert Reeves and her mother is Elizabeth (Lizzie) Ann Covey.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles  Armstrong  Reeves and Alcey Ann Ivey (Reeves). She had two brothers and four sisters, named Charles, Jason, Lillian, Nettie, Connie and Adie.  She is the second youngest of the seven children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Jesse, Willie, John and Lillie.
