John was born in 1903.  John's father was Jason Albert Reeves and his mother was Francis (Fannie) Gibbs.  His paternal grandparents were Charles  Armstrong  Reeves and Alcey Ann Ivey (Reeves). He had two brothers and a sister, named Jesse, Willie and Lillie.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Charles, Jason, Lillian, Nettie, Connie, Nellie and Adie.  He died at the age of 22 in 1925.
