May was born on January 16th, 1850.  May's father was Marion Moon and her mother was Julia  Ette Hodgins (Moon).  Her maternal grandparents are William J Hodgins and Sara Smith. She had three brothers named Oscar, Frank and William.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died at the age of 42 on January 23rd, 1892.
