Van was born on January 11th, 1889.  Van's father was Jacob Ivey Jr and his mother was Rachel Sarah Cudd (Ivey).  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Ivey and Caroline Bush (Ivey). He had three brothers and two sisters, named Marian, Maldy, John, Cynthia and Arney.  He was the third youngest of the six children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Ezra, Elise, Flossie, Jakie, Annie and Abby.  He died at the age of 71 on May 31st, 1960 in Harris Co TX.
