John was born on March 8th, 1886.  John's father was Jacob Ivey Jr and his mother was Rachel Sarah Cudd (Ivey).  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Ivey and Caroline Bush (Ivey). He had three brothers and two sisters, named Marian, Maldy, Van, Cynthia and Arney.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Ezra, Elise, Flossie, Jakie, Annie and Abby.  He died at the age of 59 on May 10th, 1945 in Bexar Co TX.
