John was born on April 9th, 1875 in Aransas Creek, Bee Co Texas.  John's father was Patrick Dolan and his mother was Mary Helen Torney (Dolan).  His paternal grandparents were James Dolan and Mary (Nellie) Ellen Fox (Dolan). He had six brothers and a sister, named James, Patrick, Edward, Gene, Daniel, Phillip and Marie Ellen.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 85 on August 31st, 1960 in San Diego, CA.
