Ella was born on April 15th, 1891 in Neptune City, Monmouth, New Jersey.¹   Ella's father was John E Lane and her mother was Lydia Hannah Patterson (Lane).  Her paternal grandparents were Herod Lane and Harriet Cranmer (Lane); her maternal grandparents were Gordon Patterson and Ellen (Patterson). She had two brothers and three sisters, named Gordon, James, Lizzie, Hattie and Clara.  She was the third oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 80 in March 1972.
