Just a reminder that Simon Mire and Madeleine Cormier had a marriage
contract recorded on the German Coast, now filed in the courthouse
records
at Hahnville.
She was in the first group of Acadians.

To all:
consider that these marriages, reported by Judice, all fall into the
period
of the missing frontal pages of the St. James Church records, as well
as
into the period of the lost (burned) records of the German Coast
church,
whose missionary pastor apparently performed these ceremonies. A couple
of
earlier civil marriage contracts (1766) were recorded in the
Darensbourg
records, (St. Charles courthouse), those of Michel Porrier and of Simon
Mire, to the Cormier sisters of the First Acadians, probably indicating
that
these two earliest religious ceremonies were at the German Coast
church; and
also probably indicating that others were performed on the German
Coast,
before the reports by Judice, and the establishment of the Acadian
Coast
church (St. Jacque et St. Phillippe). I would not be surprised to learn
later of discovery of other reports (other Legajos) of Judice, since he
was
reporting to civil authorities on all activities within his command.. I
don't believe that Mrs. Bourgeois or anybody else has exhausted the
