Thomas Stewart

Thomas was born about 1759 in of GortonCoolhill, Aghadowey Pa., Co. Londonderry, Ireland. Thomas is no longer alive.

- *Parents: Possibly a John Stewart, farmer of Gortan, Aghadowey Parish, Co. Derry, Ireland had a will probated in 1786. These early wills no longer exist, only the index to them.
  *Marriage: MARY or JANE? IRWIN (ERWIN), prob. of Caranroe, Aghadowey Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland in abt. 1785.
  *Occupation: Farmer, Gorton-Coolhill, Aghadowey Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland.
  *1831 Co. Londondery Census, "Gortonculhill", Aghadowey Parish: Thomas Stewart is not listed as a head of any household but his son, John Stewart, is.
  *1833 Tithe Applotment Book: "Thomas Stuart and son" with about 17 acres, "Gorton=Coolhill", Aghadowey Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland.
  Religion: Presbyterian
  *First Kilrea Presbyterian Church Records, Kilrea Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland: Thomas Stewart of Gortin is recorded as the father of John Stewart, widower, of Gortin whose 2nd marriage to Jane Peden is documented on April 3, 1857. Witnesses were Samuel Irwin and David Torrance.
  
  Notes: Thomas Stewart is probably living with son John (7 males) in 1831 Census who is recorded as head of house. Thomas does appear in the Tithe Applotment Book of 1833. Sarah Jane's family tree states he was married to an Irwin(Erwin) and there are Irwins in Caranroe Townland very close to Gortin Coolhill.
