    1st Kilrea Presbyterian Church Records:  Samuel Stewart, #28, was a candidate for his first Full Communion in April 1832 along with a James Stewart, #25 and a Wm. McConnell, #24.  There was no townland given.
    
    Samuel and Martha McCool Stewart of Killymuck have three children with  recorded baptisms in 1st Kilrea Presbyterian Church. James Stewart born 13 July 1838 and baptized 14 July 1838; Mary, born April 8, 1841 and baptized May 16, 1841; and Sarah Jane Stewart born 14 Sept. 1843 and baptized 9? Oct 1843.
    
    *1858 General Tenement Valuation (Griffiths), Co. Londonderry, Union of Ballymoney:   Samuel Stewart, KIllymuck,  shared acreage with  John (Jas) Stewart (OS 33/ 1b).  Each had a house, an office and shared about 25 acres.   This land was passed on to James Stewart (note death of Samuel) his son, in 1875;  and in 1879 was again deleted to a Samuel Greer. [The son, James Stewart, married a Jane Stewart, daughter of a Robert Stewart, May 10, 1877,1st Kilrea, and died in Killymuck on Feb. 14, 1888, age 50] 
    
    * Irish Civil Death Records:  Martha [McCool] Stewart died July 9, 1868, age 55, in Killymuck and present at death was Samuel Stewart.
    It is interesting how little discoveries lead to a better understanding of the lives of our ancestors. 
    One of the men in the Philadelphia Hibernian Society, John Laughlin, was owner of several steamships and when my James Stewart came to Philadelphia, the first census with him shows him living next to John Laughlin and working as a clerk for the Clyde Steamship Lines.  I gradually have paid more attention to this since the Hibernian book says John Laughlin was born in Tamlaght O'Crilly.  I found John's father Samuel Laughlin in the 1831 Census and TAB and then found Samuel Laughlin's will. 
    Now this morning reading the history of Churchtown Church for the umpteenth time (this time because of my Samuel Stewart timeline) I discover that along with Samuel Stewart as a first elder in 1842 is also SAMUEL LOUGHLIN.  I always passed over this name before because it did not mean anything to me.  Now I have this little connection between these two families which is just so neat!!  
    
    Full Abstract of Will of Samuel Laughlin:  The Will with two codicils of Samuel Laughlin late of Drumnacannon in the County of Londonderry Farmer deceased who died 19 June 1860 at Drumnacannon aforesaid was proved at Londonderry by the oaths of the Reverend Robert Torrens of Gortead Cottage Presbyterian Minister and Robert M'Caughey of Tyanee Farmer both in said County the Executors.  Effects under £100.
    
    Capt John Laughlin erected a stone to his stepmother Elizabeth who died in 1866 in Chuchtown cemetery.  Could she possibly be a Stewart?
