Martha was born on January 22nd, 1865 in Killymuck Glebe, Tamlaght O'Crilly Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland.1   Martha's father was John Stewart and her mother was Sarah Jane McCauley.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Stewart and Maria Young; her maternal grandparents were Henry McCauley and Anne? Vance.  She had two brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, William, Anne, Margaret, Elizabeth and Sarah.  She was the fifth oldest of the seven known children.
