Elizabeth was born in November 1841 in Killymuck Glebe, Tamlaght O'Crilly Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland and her baptism took place on December 17th, 1841 in Churchtown Presbyterian Church, Tamlaght O'Crilly Pa..¹

Elizabeth's father was John Stewart and her mother was Mary McCaughrin. Her paternal grandparents were James Stewart and Betty Fulton; her maternal grandparents were Andrew McCaughrin and Nancy Stewart. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Andrew, James, Robert, Nancy, Elizabeth and Mary. She was the third oldest of the seven known children. She died before 1850 in Killymuck Glebe, Tamlaght O'Crilly Parish, Co. Londonderry, Ireland.
