Archibald was born in 1835 in Kilrea, Kilrea Pa., Co. Londonderry, Ireland.1   Archibald's father was Hugh Stewart and his mother was Elizabeth "Betty" Taggart.  His paternal grandparents were James Stewart and Catherine Stewart; his maternal grandparents were James Taggart and Barbara Irwin.  He had four brothers and three sisters, named James?, Hugh, John, Henry, Catherine, Mary and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the eight known children.  He died from a heart attack at the age of 78 on October 7th, 1913 in Clyde House, Mortlake, Australia.  His burial was on October 9th, 1913 in Mortlake Cemetery, Mortlake, Victoria, Australia.1
