William was born on September 5th, 1878 in Argrey, Co. Donegal, Ireland.1   William's father was William (Argrey) Smyth and his mother was Annie (Edymore 1869) Lowry.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel (Mullaghanny) Smyth and Mary; his maternal grandparents were Robert (Edymore 1858 & Cavanlee1879) Lowry and <Unknown>.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, James, Robert, Mary and Kathleen Elizabeth Lowry.  He was the fifth oldest of the six children.  He died about 1958 in Cavanlee, Co. Tyrone.
