William was born on October 16th, 1866 in Pulaski, Lawrence Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He died at the age of 70 on February 18th, 1937 in Dallas, TX. His burial was on February 20th, 1937 in Oakland Cemetery, Dallas, TX.

  Retired Executive of the Magnolia Petroleum Company Was 70.
  Dallas, Texas, Feb. 18.--William C. PROCTOR, former vice president and treasurer of the Magnolia Petroleum Company died at his home here today. He was 70 years old. He retired in 1932. He achieved prominence in the petroleum world. - William Custer PROCTOR was the vice president and treasurer of Magnolia Petroleum Company in Dallas, Texas. He started at Corsicana, Texas with the J.S. Cullinan Company in 1898 and remained with that company and its successors until his retirement in 1932.

  The first oil refinery in the state (Texas) was built in 1897, and by 1898 there were 287 producing wells in the Corsicana field. The oil find attracted numerous oil men from the East, among them Edwy R. Brown, H.C. Folger, W. C. PROCTOR, C. N. Payne, and J. S.
