Rebecca was born in 1846 in Drumfad, Co. Donegal and her baptism took place on May 29th, 1846 in Taughboyne Parish Church.  Rebecca's father was Hugh (Drumfad) Lowry and her mother was Catherine Warnock.  Her paternal grandparents were James (Drumfad) Lowry and <Unknown>.  She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Alexander, Leighton, Eliza Jane, Anne and Catherine.  She was the youngest of the seven children.  She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert, Hugh, Margaret and Martha.
