Mary was born about 1840 and her baptism took place in September 1840 in Ballindrait Presbyterian Church.  Mary's father was Marshall (Black Rock) Lowry and her mother was Jane Cunningham.  Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  She had three brothers named Marshall, Richard and George.  She was the youngest of the four children.
