Martha was born in 1862 in Tullyrap, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland.  Martha's father was Alexander Hamilton (Tullyrap) Lowry and her mother was Anne (Nancy) McCullogh/McCauley.  Her paternal grandparents were Gawin (Tullyrap) Lowry and <Unknown>.  She had four brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Charles, Andrew, Alexander, Alexander, Catherine, Anne and <Unknown>.  She was the fifth oldest of the eight children.
