Marshall was born about 1832 in Clonleigh, Donegal, Ireland.1   Marshall's father was Marshall (Black Rock) Lowry and his mother was Jane Cunningham.  His paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  He had two brothers and a sister, named Richard, George and Mary.  He was the oldest of the four children.
