Katie Esther McGregor was born in Argrey, Ballindrait, Co. Donegal, Ireland.  Katie Esther McGregor's father was Andrew "Andy" J. (Argrey Antiquarian) Lowry and her mother was Annie Liston.  Her paternal grandparents were Andrew (Mullaghanny & Argrey Hill) Lowry (Snr) and Esther McGregor.  She had a brother and four sisters, named Andrew, Mary, Infant, May and Annie.
