- Notes for JOHN HENRY LOWRY:
The 1838-1857 Abercorn Rental Book shows the name John LOWRY scored through and Henry [presumably Henry A. Lowry] written in above. They held 237.1.10 acres paying £130.1.2 annually or £69.17.9 1/2 semi annually.
John Henry LOWRY was still living in August 1841 when he is documented in the Derry Standard, 25th August 1841, as #10. John Lowry, Drumcraw, on the Road Session, Barony of Raphoe. He died before his wife Elizabeth whose obituary (Oct 17 1845) says she was the relic of John Henry Lowry. --- Boyd Gray, June 10, 2004
I noticed that on my John Hamilton Lowry's death certificate his father's name was written as John Hamilton Lowry occupation "Gentleman". However on John's sister Margaret Lowry's death certificate her father's name was written as John Henry Lowry "Gentleman" and her mother's name was down as Elizabeth Hamilton. Hence I drew the conclusion that John Hamilton Lowry's certificate was incorrect. His children were not as well educated as Margaret's and could be more prone to make errors.---Wendy Lowry, 2004
