- DoB Source: Obit states 1823 but 1880 census gives him as 50. The Obituary date figures in better with the other children and name order.

John's father was Alexander Lowry and his mother was Sarah Stevenson. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Lowry and Margaret or Mary Rogers; his maternal grandparents were Andrew? Stevenson and Jane Colhoun. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Andrew , Alexander, Henry, Elizabeth, Martha, Margaret and Sarah. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died on March 22nd, 1906 in Waterloo Twsp., Grant Co., WI. The funeral took place in 1906. His burial was in 1906 in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi, WI.¹

Death Notes
- John Lowry's obituary states that he was born in Ireland in 1823 and came to America in 1851. He resided in Philadelphia for several years, and then went west to Wisconsin. He first lived in Benton, WI and later farmed 283 acres in Waterloo Twsp. near Burton, WI. In 1859 he married Sarah A. French and to this union was born four sons and four daughters. He leaves a brother Henry Lowry of Potosi, WI, and a sister, Margaret Lowry of Philadelphia, PA, all eight children and eleven grand children. He was buried next to his wife, Sarah, in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi, WI.
