Isabella was born in 1840 in Drumfad, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland and her baptism took place on August 11th, 1840 in 1st Raphoe Presbyterian Church.  Isabella's father was John (Drumfad) Lowry and her mother was Jane Logan.  She had four brothers named Robert, Andrew, Thomas and James.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
