Henry Alexander Lowry

Henry was born on August 23rd, 1856 in Drumcrow, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland and his baptism took place on August 31st, 1856 in Taughboyne Parish Church.¹

Henry's father was Henry Alexander Lowry and his mother was Mary McFadden. His paternal grandparents were John Lowry and Elizabeth Hamilton. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Andrew, Alexander, George, Harriett and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 67 on December 7th, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA.

  I understood that he went to Australia or New Zealand and then back to Ireland when his father died and then to America. Information from Mabel Lowry Gibbons, his daughter. He played the violin and the accordian. In Philadelphia, he had a horse and wagon and hauled trunks and suitcases,etc. He had a stand on Sanson St. His horse was named Nellie.   He is mentioned in one of Dorothy Wallace Stewart Stockwell's letters as possibly being related to Great Aunt Mag Lowry because they came from the same area of Ireland. AND THEY WERE - this noted started the investigation!!
