  • DoD from Civil Registration deaths index in Derry FHC. 
    Death Record at GRO, Dublin says George died 17th August 1889 at Coolaghy, married, aged 78 years, farmer, from "shock from a fall 22 hours certified".  A Letitia Lowry, "niece" was PAD.  This fact is crucial in making George a brother of Andrew Lowry of Carrickbrack, who was the father of a Letitia Lowry.

    LOWRY - August 17th at Coolaghy, suddenly, George Lowry, aged 78 years. 
    His remains will be removed for interment in St Johnston Burying-ground, on to-morrow (Tuesday) morning at ten o'clock

  • MARRIAGE
    MARRIED On the 31st ultimo, 1838 at Grove, by the Rev. John Wray, George Lowrey. Esq. Fairyglass, near Raphoe, to Sarah Irwin, daughter of the Rev. Joseph Lyttle, Presbyterian Minister, Letterkenny
    LAND RECORDS:
    George Lowry appears as the tenant of land in Feddyglass in 1837/8.  The following note appeared in January 1835 21 Year Lease Agreement with Lord Abercorn: Signed by George Lowry but with a note from Andrew Lowry, the previous tenant, saying he approved the lease going to George since there was "nobody else for it but him".

    Will 1882: He is mentioned as the uncle of Henry Alexander Lowry in the latter's will in 1882, no residence given.
    
    George Lowry acquires land in Coolaghy in 1873.  This land passes to an Andrew Lowry circa 1892.  In fact, it probably passed to him in 1889, when George died. 
    
    The "Printed Financial Statements of the Presbyteries of Strabane and Raphoe" as supplied by Len Swindley via Wendy Lowry, show that George paid a stipend to 1st Raphoe in 1867 but rented Pew No 13 in in 2nd Ballylennon in 1868.  (An Andrew Lowry rented Pew No 6 in 1866 and 1868.)
    
    BAPTISM RECORDS
    
    A George Lowry was born to George Lowry and Anne ???? in 1834 in Tullyrap. (Raphoe Cathedral records.)
    We do not know if the George Lowry of Tullyrap is the same one in Feddyglass.  If so his marriage to Sarah Lyttle was his second marriage.
