David was born on April 4th, 1873 in St. Johnston, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal.1   David's father was Gawn Lowry and his mother was Fanny Edwards.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew (St. Johnston) Lowry and <Unknown>.  He had a brother and four sisters, named William John, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Anne and Eliza Ann.  He was the fifth oldest of the six children.  He had two half-brothers named Andrew and William.
