Andrew was born in 1842 in Drumfad, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland and his baptism took place on October 6th, 1842 in 1st Raphoe Presbyterian Church.  Andrew's father was John (Drumfad) Lowry and his mother was Jane Logan.  He had three brothers and a sister, named Robert, Thomas, James and Isabella.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
