Andrew was born in 1855 in Tullyrap, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland.  Andrew's father was Alexander Hamilton (Tullyrap) Lowry and his mother was Anne (Nancy) McCullogh/McCauley.  His paternal grandparents were Gawin (Tullyrap) Lowry and <Unknown>.  He had three brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Charles, Alexander, Alexander, Catherine, Martha, Anne and <Unknown>.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
