Rev Andrew Lowry

Andrew was born in August 1819 in Drumcrow, Taughboyne Parish, Co. Donegal, Ireland.¹

Birth Notes
- Civil Registration death entry, Dublin shows Andrew was a widower, aged 84 years, a Presbyterian Minister, died of old age with no medical attendant. PAD was his son, John D Lowry, of Carrane, Woodlawn, Co Galway. DoB, DoD, and residence confirmed by death notice and obit in Derry Standard.

Andrew's father was John Lowry and his mother was Elizabeth Hamilton. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Lowry and Margaret or Mary Rogers. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Henry, Elizabeth, Margaret, Charlotte and Caroline. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 84 on October 30th, 1903.

  Married Jane, daughter of Rev Joseph Denham, Enniskillen. The Rev James McCully, Broomfield, Co. Monaghan, is a son-in-law.
  
  Obituary in the Derry Standard, which gives him as belonging to a highly respected family in the neighbourhood of Raphoe, with "a sister, the oldest of the family, still surviv(ing) him in Australia". This has to be Margaret, born circa 1817, married to Thomas Wilson, and living in Australia. From Wendy Lowry on 110705: A copy of a letter she had from Len Swindley dated 13th October 2001: Londonderry Standard:
  1848, March 24: Married on 16th inst in the Presbyterian church, Raphoe by the Rev Andrew Lowry of Ballyshannon, brother of the bride, William Wilson Esq, of Carrickmore, to Caroline, daughter of the late John Lowry Esq, Drumcrow near Raphoe.
