Andrew was born in 1865 in Drumcrow, Taughboyne Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland and his baptism took place on July 7th, 1865 in 1st Raphoe Presbyterian Church.

Andrew's father was Henry Alexander Lowry and his mother was Mary McFadden. His paternal grandparents were John Lowry and Elizabeth Hamilton. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Henry, John, James, Alexander, George, Harriett and Elizabeth. He was the sixth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 89 on January 11th, 1954.

- Notes for ANDREW LOWRY: Came to Baltimore about 1885 after spending two years out west in California, Nevada, the Dakotas, and Montana. He stayed with his brother James and his wife Margaret MacKenzie. Her niece, Margaret Orr was staying with them also. They later married.--Margaret Gibbons Lake, 2003

  Birth recorded in Raphoe PC index Census 1910 indicates he was a grocer in Baltimore. He had two sons living at home, Andrew and Henry. His middle initial is "G".
  Emmigration:
  His father left the farm in Ireland to be shared by Andrew and Henry. Then he changed the will to read only Henry and Andrew to be paid £200 and an added £100 when he reached the age of 23 (1888). He later changed the will again to read£100 at age 21 and £300 three years after. This may be the reason Andrew returned to Ireland in 1888 - for the rest of his inheritence. AT least he is found returning from Ireland to Baltimore on July 16, 1889.
  Another Ship Manifest, Aug 1910, indicates he returned to Ireland and then back to Baltimore.
