Alexander was born in 1819 in Argrey, Clonleigh Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland.1   Alexander's father was James (Mullaghanny & Argrey) Lowry.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Andrew, Ann, Agnes and Margaret.
