Martha was born about 1862 in Lislea, Kilrea Pa., Co. Londonderry, Ireland.1   Martha's father was Thomas Gamble and her mother was Elizabeth Stewart.  Her maternal grandparents were Robert "The Isles" Stewart and Jane McIlfatrick.  She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Aaron, James, <Unknown>, Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Mary and <Unknown>.  She was the youngest of the nine known children.
