William Craig

William was born about 1812 in Lisnamulligan. He died on May 24th, 1896 in Broadlea, Raphoe Pa., Co. Donegal, Ireland.

  24th June 1854
  
  My dear Major,
  The Bearer Mr. William Craig has applied to me for a recommendation to you. I have known him for several years & believe him to be a very respectable and well conducted young man. He at one time was a Rate Collector in the Strabane ??on & did his business very satisfactorily; He is now a Clerk to the Loan fund at Raphoe. It appears he has married the widow of James Shaw of Broadlee who was a Tenant of Lord Abercorns. He Craig is now carrying on the labour of the Farm, but seems lots? apprehensive that you will not recognize him as a Tenant. Samuel Shaw the brother of the deceased is endeavouring to obtain possession of the Farm. I think you would find Craig a very eligible Tenant, as he was brought ? to Agricultural pursuits and is possessed of sufficient aptitude? to carry on his business with advantage. I am glad to hear of your return home. I hope you & Mrs. Humphreys have been benefited by your excursion.
