George was born on December 10th, 1901. George's father was John Hamilton Craig and his mother was Harriett Lowry.  His paternal grandparents were William Craig and Jane Lowry; his maternal grandparents were Henry Alexander Lowry and Mary McFadden.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named Henry, William, John "Jack", Robert, Jane, Elizabeth, Harriett and Viola.  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 39 in 1940.
