Samuel was born on February 15th, 1915 in Lismoyle, Tamlaght O'Crilly Pa., Co. Londonderry, Ireland.  Samuel's father was Robert Torrens Boyd and his mother was Ellen Jane Scott.  His maternal grandparents were James Scott and Margaret Johnston.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 62 on January 29th, 1978 in Ballymena, Co. Antrim, Ireland.
