James was born on April 10th, 1825 in Lismoyle, Tamlaght O'Crilly Pa., Co. Londonderry, Ireland.1   James' father was Samuel Bolton and his mother was Martha Boyd.  He had two brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Samuel, William, Nancy, Elizabeth, Martha and <Unknown>.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven known children.  He died at the age of 69 on July 26th, 1894 in Ballynian, Tamlaght O'Crilly Pa., Co. Londonderry, Ireland.  His burial was in 1894 in Boveedy Cemetery.2
