Hugh de Courtenay, 2nd Earl of Devon was born on 12 July 1303.
He was the son of Hugh de Courtenay, 1st Earl of Devon and Agnes de St. John.
He married Margaret de Bohun, daughter of Humphrey de Bohun, 4th Earl of Hereford and Lady Elizabeth Plantagenet, on 11 August 1325.
He married Matilda de Holand, daughter of Thomas de Holand, 1st Earl of Kent and Joan of Kent, Countess of Kent.
He died on 2 May 1377 at age 73.
Hugh de Courtenay, 2nd Earl of Devon gained the title of 2nd Earl of Devon in 1340.
