John 3rd Lord was born about 1336. John 3rd Lord's father was John 2nd Lord Cherleton and his mother was Maud de Mortimer. His maternal grandparents were Roger (1st Earl of March) de Mortimer and Joan ( Baroness Grenville) de Grenville. He was an only child. He died on July 13th, 1374.General Notes

He was the son of John Cherleton, 2nd Lord Cherleton and Maud de Mortimer.
He married Joan de Stafford, daughter of Ralph de Stafford, 1st Earl of Stafford and Margaret Audley, Baroness Audley.
He died on 13 July 1374.
He succeeded to the title of 3rd Lord Cherleton in 1360.
He succeeded to the title of Lord of Powis [feudal baron] in 1360.
