Adalbert's father was Count Eberhard von Hohenburg IV and his mother was Berte of Metz. His paternal grandparents were Hugo III von Hohenburg and Hildegarde de Ferrette; his maternal grandparents were Matfried of Metz II and <Unknown>. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Hugo, Gerhard and Edith. He died at the age of 71 in 1033.²
