Amadeus was born in year 1047.1   Amadeus' father was Count of Savoy Otto de Maurienne I and his mother was Adelaide de Montferrat.  His paternal grandparents were Count of Savoie Humbert (Whitehands) de Maurienne and Auxilia of Noyen; his.  He was the oldest of three children.  He had a brother and a sister, named Pietre and Berthe.  He died, at the age of 33 years, on December 9th, 1080.2
