Beatrix was born in year 1142.1 Beatrix's father was Guillaume de Montferrat VI and her mother was Judith von Brandenburg.  Her paternal grandparents were Marquis Raynier de Montferrat and Gisela of Burgundy de Macon; her maternal grandparents were  Margrave of Austria Leopold (The Saint) von Brandenburg III and  Agnes of Germany.  She was the oldest of four children.  She had two brothers and a sister, named Boniface, Conrad and Alice.
