Maldred was born in year 1015.1   Maldred's father was Crinan Atholl and his mother was Bethoc of Scotland.  His paternal grandparents were Lord Duncan of Mormaer and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were  Malcolm of Scotland II and  Edith de Ossory.  He was the youngest of two children.  He had a brother named The Gracious.  He died, at the age of 30 years, in year 1045.2
