The Great was born in year 0995.1   The Great's father was Count Guillaume (Ironman) of Poitou IV and his mother was Emma de Blois.  His paternal grandparents were Guillaume III de Poitou and Gerloc Adelheid; his maternal grandparents were  Theobald I (le Tricheur) De Blois and  Luitgarde de Vermandois.  He was an only child.  He died, at the age of 34 years, on January 31st, 1029.1

They had a son and a daughter, named Agnes and Guillaume.
