John was born on December 2nd, 1733.1   John's father was John Bugg and his mother was Susanna Frances Burleson.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Bugg and Sarah Bacon; his.  He was the oldest of four children.  He had three brothers named Sherwood, Benjamin and Jesse.  He died, at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 27 days, on January 29th, 1801 in Mecklenburg Co., Virginia.1

John and Lucy were married in a religious ceremony on September 29th, 1758 in Brunswick Co., Virginia.1   They had five sons and eight daughters, named Mary, Frances, Sarah, Benjamin, Martha, Elizabeth, Rebeckah, Zachariah, John, Lucy, William, Nancy and Jesse.
