Hersent was born in year 0865. Hersent's father was Charles II (the Bald) Roman and her mother was Ermentrude (Irmtrud) Orleans. Her paternal grandparents were Emperor Louis I (The Pious) Roman and Judith Bavaria; her maternal grandparents were Odo I Orleans and Engeltrude Paris. She was the fourth of five children. She had a brother and three sisters, named Louis II (The Stammerer), Judith, Rothildis and Godehilde. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Reheut and Rothilde.
