Thyra was born in year 0896 in Denmark.1 Thyra's father was King of England Edward I (The Elder) and her mother was Aelflaeda of Ethelhelm.  Her paternal grandparents were Alfred (The Great) England and Ealhswith of the Gaini; her maternal grandparents were  Ealdorman of Ethelhelm and  <Unknown>.  She was the oldest of three children.  She had two sisters named Eadgyth and Edgiva.  She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Aethelstan, Edmund I, Aelgifu, Emiliane and Beatrice.  She died, at the age of 39 years, in year 0935.1
