Matilda was born in 1079 in Dumferline, Scotland.1  Matilda's father was Malcolm (Longneck) Caenmoe Dunkeld of Scotland III and her mother was Margaret Atheling of Scotland.  Her paternal grandparents were King of Scotland Duncan (The Gracious) Alpin of Scots I and Sybil Biornsson; her maternal grandparents were Edward (The Exile) of England and Agatha von Braunschweig. She had six brothers and a sister, named Ethelred, Edgar, The Fierce, The Saint, Edward, Edmund and Mary. She had a half-brother named Heth.  She died at the age of 39 on May 1st, 1118 in Westminster, Middlesex, England.2
