Aelfgar, known as The Saxon, was born about 1002 in Mercia, England.1   The Saxon's father was Leofric (The Great) Mercia III and his mother was Godgifu of Coventry.  His paternal grandparents were Earl of Mercia Leofwine and Alwara of Mercia; his maternal grandparents were Sheriff of Lincoln Thorold of Buckingham and Beatrice Malet. He had a brother and a sister, named le Wake and Erminhild.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had two half-sisters named <Unknown> and Eve.  He died in 1062 in Coventry.1

They had three sons and two daughters, named Aedwine, Morcar, Burgheard, Swan Neck and Lucy.
