Robert, known as The Consul, was born in 1090 in Caen, Calvados, Normandy, France.1   The Consul's father was King Henry (Beauclerc) England I and his mother was Nest verch Deheubarth Rhys Heiress of Carew, Tywysoges Deheubarth.  His paternal grandparents were William (The Conqueror) de Normandie and Matilda (Maud) of Flanders; his maternal grandparents were King Rhys ap Tewdwr and Gladys verch Rhywallon. He had a sister named Maud. He had six half-brothers and sixteen half-sisters, named Henry, Reginald, William, William, Maurice, David, Elizabeth, Matilda, Adelaide, Sibyl, Elizabeth, Constance, Gundred, Alice, Constance, Matilda, Isabel, Emma, Alice, Hadewise, de Windsor and Angharad.  He died at the age of 57 on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol Castle, Gloucestershire, England.  He was buried in Priory of St. James, Bristol, England.2 3
