Newdigate was born in 1608. Newdigate's father was John Poyntz and his mother was Ann Sydenham. His maternal grandparents were John Sydenham of Nimpsfield and Mary Poyntz. He had two brothers named John and Sydenham. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 35 on August 5th, 1643 in In battle at siege of Gainsborough, Lincs..-
